Putting It All Together and Waiting for Calm will be on display at Fresh A.I.R. Gallery's SEEN Studios (#21 inside the Chromedge building at 289 W. Walnut Street, Columbus, OH, 43215) from February 10 – March 26, 2023. The artist’s opening reception will be held on Friday, February 10, 6:00 pm – 10:00 pm during the art districts Franklinton Friday festivities. Additional exhibit viewings are available by appointment by contacting the gallery manager.

Putting It All Together and Waiting for Calm, a solo exhibition of drawings and paintings by Columbus-based artist Meira Berger. Inspired by the mundane yet wonderful moments of the everyday, Berger’s swirling compositions record her physical and psychological ups and downs. Difficult emotions, thoughts, and mental states are converted into forms akin to spinning orbs or rolling waves, moving over and around  each other, whirling in vast planes of deep purples and blues with flares of yellow and orange. Through the creation of her vibrant works, Meira Berger considers inspiration from both the good and bad in life, following her pencils and brushes on a curving path to deeper meaning.

“Having a mental illness is upsetting, disruptive, scary and lonely. This artwork is just a resting place for me. It’s my snapshot of how I got here and where I hope to go. It starts with everyday mundane to the corruption of mental illness to recovery. I wish it were  simple and you knew at the time what was happening. But, it's not.” Meira Berger

Meira Berger is an eclectic artist with a passion for color, shape, meaning and community. Through her art making Meira finds it helps to process the difficult emotions and symptoms of her Bipolar II. Her art provides a way through and gives her purpose in the process. Meira loves the local art community of Columbus Ohio where she resides  with her husband and teenage son.
